From 22 November 2018 to 6 January 2019 (excluding Christmas Day) from 10am to 10pm, London transforms into the most coveted festive destination. As we all know, Hyde Park in London is one of the historic nine royal parks, spectacular both in terms of landscape and natural beauty, thanks to the presence of an artificial lake, the Serpentine Lake, which divides the park in two, numerous fountains and rolling hills. An ideal scenic setting for Christmas with numerous attractions.

You can’t start anywhere else than the impressive Ski Zillertal Ice Rink, the most spectacular skating rink thanks to 100,000 lights illuminating it, whilst a Victorian-style pavilion welcomes a magnificent decorated Christmas tree.
Glide across the ice from morning until evening, even beneath a blanket of twinkling stars: each skating session lasts 50 minutes and it’s advisable to arrive 20 minutes early to book. Children under twelve must be accompanied and guides are also available. A professional photographer at the rink’s edge will capture magical moments of fun in their shots.
A fantastic world of ice and snow awaits at the Magical Ice Kingdom, the largest ice castle where you can meet the true Snow Queen and have your photo taken on a genuine ice throne.
Children under two years old enter free of charge. A marvel for young and old alike, but wrap up warmly as the temperature inside the castle is well below freezing!
Zippos Christmas Circus is one of the shows taking place in a spacious and comfortable mega tent. Shows are held at 12:30pm, 2pm and 5pm, and on selected days at other times as well; it’s advisable to arrive a little early to get comfortable seating.
Clowns, acrobats, jugglers and dancers – nothing will be missing from this entertaining show that’s perfect for the whole family.
Get ready to be amazed at Santa Land where you can travel on Father Christmas’s train and even meet him – his grotto opens daily from 10am to 6pm!
The list of spectacular attractions you’ll find at Hyde Park during the festive season doesn’t end there: who could miss the observation wheel? Standing 60 metres high, you can see all of London. The last ride departs at 9:45pm, allowing you to lose yourself among the lights illuminating one of Europe’s most beautiful capitals.
Groups of at least twenty people can obtain a 10% discount on tickets (except for the Ice Bar) for each attraction or show. Do remember that admission to Hyde Park is free and that tickets are required only for access to individual attractions.
We particularly enjoy the festive season because we love visiting the colourful Christmas markets. Many wooden chalets host small craft exhibits, artisan crafts, souvenirs and sweets. It’s impossible not to find a gift idea to bring back to those you care about in the city.

Between one attraction and another, a coffee break is just what you need – but not in just any bar, rather in an ice bar!
Wrapped in a cape and gloves, you’ll enter the freezing Ice Bar where everything, from cocktails to water, is served in ice glasses. Booking is also highly recommended here.
Spinning around Hyde Park building up an appetite? You’ll be spoilt for choice. At the Bavarian Village you can drink Bavarian beer, savour German culinary specialities and chat in the open air or under covered seating areas.
At the Fire Pit Bar there are toasted marshmallows, mulled wine, hot cider… and plenty of conversation, singing and fun to refresh yourselves together. Alpine atmosphere at the charming Swiss Chalet, a Tyrolean-style restaurant where you can enjoy Swiss specialities.
You might think you’re in Alaska at the Arctic Lodge Bar where you can listen to live music, relax and sip from an enormous variety of beverages.
And then at the Mirror Bar everyone can gather around a majestic Christmas tree to drink and enjoy hot food, sing and dance under the lights of mirror-surfaced spheres.
So what are you waiting for? Hyde Park, London’s green lung, gets dressed up for the festive season and visiting it also means seeing, in the immediate surroundings, London’s most spectacular attractions: at the park’s south entrance is Piccadilly Street and continuing on you’ll reach Knightsbridge where you’ll find the grand and luxurious Harrods department store and the Victoria & Albert Museum.
From the other side, entering from the north you can head towards Oxford Street, London’s busiest shopping street with countless shops.
A tradition unique to Oxford Street has been held since 1981 in November. A celebrity from entertainment, film or music switches on the Christmas lights, thereby marking the start of the festive season. This year, on 6 November 2018, no celebrity will be performing the honours.
City Card allow you to save on public transport and / or on the entrances to the main tourist attractions.
